Printing Your Planner Inserts – Duplex Printing

Many printers now come with the ability to print double sided. If your printer has this function, you will find printing your inserts a simpler process.

  1. Open your document – you will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader
  2. Select multiple copies if that is your preference
  3. Make sure the ‘Actual Size’ box is ticked
  4. Select ‘2 sided printing’ (or similar)
  5. Depending on your inserts you will need to decide between ‘flip on short edge’ or ‘flip on long edge’. The images below will help you select the correct option. If the sides of your inserts align with the short edge (image one) then select ‘flip on short edge’.

Printing Your Planner Inserts – Single Sided

If your printer does not print double sided it’s a little tricker to begin with, however once you’ve worked out the correct way to place your paper in the tray for the second side of printing you’ll find it much easier.

Once you’ve opened your planner inserts in Adobe Acrobat Reader print the first page only by selecting ‘current page’. This will print whichever page is visable on your screen.

Then place a mark on one edge of the reverse side and place your page back into the paper tray (usually face down). This mark will let you know which way you placed the paper into your tray so you know for future reference. Keep doing this until you get your planner inserts back to back and the right way up.

Once you’ve worked this out follow the steps below.

  1. Select multiple copies if that is your preference
  2. Make sure the ‘Actual Size’ box is ticked
  3. Select ‘odd pages only’ (or similar)
  4. Once they’ve printed, place them back into the paper tray (making sure they’re facing the correct way).
  5. Select ‘even pages only’
  6. Select ‘reverse order’

NOTE: that printers all vary slightly and you may have to try a few different things until you get it right.
